China Cabinet Bump Out

A recent project was a whole house remodel of a cottage near the Fairgrounds. The customer wanted to add some arts and crafts/bungalow features. A popular project back in the early 20th century was to build a bump out for a china cabinet, and this is exactly what we proposed to do. A window in the dining room was removed and an opening created. We framed a bump out and installed the windows, matched the siding on the exterior, matched the textured plaster on the interior, matched the trim and stain and lastly custom fabricated this oak china cabinet.

This project was a kitchen remodel of a South Minneapolis bungalow. In order to expand the footprint of the kitchen, we removed the wall between the kitchen and dining room and built these two bump outs. Each bump out allowed for expanded cabinet and countertop space and we installed as large a window as would fit in each one. These will be clad in stucco. This is a great solution to a cramped bungalow kitchen.
