China Cabinet Bump Out

China Cabinet Bump Out

A recent project was a whole house remodel of a cottage near the Fairgrounds. The customer wanted to add some arts and crafts/bungalow features. A popular project back in the early 20th century was to build a bump out for a china cabinet, and this is exactly what we proposed to do. A window in the dining room was removed and an opening created. We framed a bump out and installed the windows, matched the siding on the exterior, matched the textured plaster on the interior, matched the trim and stain and lastly custom fabricated this oak china cabinet.

Cabinets and Tile

This bathroom was in a 1980's home that was quite dated. We tore it out and replaced the windows, updated the mechanicals, and started over with a new design from Firm2 Architecture. We custom fabricated all new cabinetry from walnut with a clear finish. Also new walnut trim was custom fabricated for this job. We added a custom tile shower enclosure with a frameless glass surround. Herringbone tile on the floor gives it a very modern look.

This 1940's home in Edina had an addition from the 80's with a very low quality bathroom. We tore it out and started fresh with a new design from Neat Little Nest design firm. We replaced a plastic shower stall and whirlpool tub with this tile shower. This created some space for a custom built make up table and lighted medicine cabinet. Hex tile on the walls and a contemporary vanity finish the clean and modern look.

This job in the Fern Hill area of St. Louis Park was a renovation of a 1940's home. The home had two small bathrooms and the customer wanted a bigger master suite. We tore out one of the bathrooms and bedrooms and re built the second floor to feature an enlarged master bath, main floor laundry and a bigger master bedroom. I hope to get better photos of this job, as the customer was moving in the day I took these. We custom built those vanities and the make up table as well as the mirrors. Custom shower tile and glass. Architect on this project was Scott Newland of Newland Architecture.

This project was an extensive renovation of an early 20th Century Home in the Lowry Hill East Neighborhood. This was one of several recent collaborations with Newland Architecture. We completely gutted the existing kitchen and bath, we also tore out part of the third floor and added an all new bath where there had previously been a closet. We built a small kitchen addition and placed a massive steel beam to open up the floor plan to the dining room. The house lacked central air, so a high velocity system was added. In floor heat was added to the new kitchen and baths.

This family bought an early 20th century home in South Minneapolis that had been flipped in the early 00's. We gutted the existing kitchen then removed the walls dividing the kitchen, dining room and living room creating an open floor plan. The kitchen was small, even with the wall removed, so we built a bumpout cantilivering into the backyard and created a new back entry area, stairs and stair landing. We custom built the cabinets and installed the herringbone tile backsplash.

We gutted the bathroom and did extensive structural work to repair rotten and damaged framing. The fixture layout changed adding a shower and a soaker tub. The highlight of this project is the tile installation. The product shown is the Subway Ceramics line from Heritage Tile Works. We also custom built the cabinet that backs up to the tub.
